There are so many positive things about it, but are there krill oil negatives that you might want to know about before you take it?

Krill oil, like anything we ingest, including water, can have some negatives to it.  It is smart to do research on any supplement or pill you decide to take before you take it. 

Many times the negatives you may hear about krill oil are spewed from those in direct competition to the industry and who may wish to sway you into thinking "their" product is better. 

You have to find out all the facts before making an informed decision about anything you choose to add to your diet plan.

The truth is krill oil has very little side effects, but there are a few worth mentioning.  Human beings have consumed the antioxidants and phospholipids contained in krill oil for hundreds of years. 

The other components of krill oil are DHA, EPA, Choline, and astaxanthin, which all are safe substances for consumption and are actually vital to our health. 

Sometimes people may have a deficiency in these substances and need to take extra supplementation to have better health. 

Another important fact, krill oil has the approval of the FDA as a nutrient supplement for human consumption.  In other words, the EPA has deemed krill oil safe to take.

The biggest of the krill oil negatives, and this really is not that bad of one, is the minor danger of taking krill oil with prescription or over the counter medications that contain blood thinners. 

If a person is on Coumadin, Warfarin, or even a high dosage of aspirin they need to seek the advice of their health care provider and their advice as to whether or not to consume krill oil. 

Other precautions against taking krill oil are seafood allergies, for obvious reasons, krill is seafood. 

In addition, of course, pregnant and breastfeeding women always need to seek advice from their physician before taking any supplement including krill oil.

The positives of krill oil are that it is one of the purest supplements to receive a higher dosage of the omega 3 fatty acid along with the essential antioxidants. 

Studies show that omega 3 in this pure form works to reduce bad cholesterol levels ten times better than just fish oil alone. 

The negatives of fish oil are the possibility of heavy metals present, but even though heavy metals are found in the Antarctic too, the krill show to have less of it in their system than most other fish, certainly less than the fish caught and used for normal fish oil.

If you are concerned, ask your doctor, but he will probably be thrilled that you are be proactive and considering taking krill oil to better your health.
