Flaxseed Oil and Weight Loss

Did you know that flaxseed oil and weight loss are related?  In fact, flaxseed oil has many health benefits for adults including weight loss.

Flaxseed Oil and Weight Loss

It is an excellent diet solution when other diet programs have been unsuccessful. It has a mild, nutty flavor that is enjoyable in a variety of foods.

This oil comes from seeds found in the flax plant. It contains the essential fatty acids (EFA) omega-6 and more than 50 percent omega-3.

Hunger occurs when a person lacks needed nutrients or EFAs. Fatty acids promote the production of healthy “brown fat” that helps the body burn bad fat.

Flaxseed Oil and Weight Loss Go Hand and Hand

Flaxseed oil also has alpha linolenic acid (ALA) that is also an omega-3 fatty acid. The body does not produce ALA but needs it for an overall feeling of wellness.

This ingredient is taken from the foods a person consumes. Inflammation is naturally found within the body.

This inflammation contains fat cells trapped in fluid. ALA promotes the production of hormones with anti-inflammatory qualities reducing the number of fat cells.

The consumption of flaxseed oil slows the digestive process creating a “full” feeling and decreasing food cravings.

This slower process helps balance the levels of insulin and blood sugar. When blood sugar spikes too fast, insulin is produced and leads to fat storage.

The healthy fats contained in this oil offset this process. It also speeds up metabolism to burn more fat cells.

Adults who are overweight or drink an excessive amount of alcohol are at risk of having fatty tissues and inflammation build up in their liver.

A damaged liver will not properly digest fat cells. Flaxseed oil reduces this inflammation and balances the level of liver enzymes.

Including this ingredient in the diet also provides fiber or roughage that removes toxins from the body.

The presence of this in the stomach makes a person fuller quicker, and the process that your body takes to digest fiber slows the production of sugar and insulin. This results in less fatty cells in the body.

Flaxseed oil also consists of protein that aids weight loss by reducing hunger pangs.

Men and women feel satisfied and fuller for a longer period of time since the digestive process is slowed down.

It also takes more energy for the body to process protein; therefore, more fat cells are burned.

How to Take It

Flaxseed oil is available in capsules or liquid form. No more than two full tablespoons or two capsules should be taken per day.

Taking this product at mealtimes offers the most benefit. One tablespoon equals 135 calories, and one capsule contains ten calories.

Although this is high in calories, the body does not store those calories as fat.

After opening, this product needs to be refrigerated. It can be added to cereal, salad dressings, sauces, smoothies and protein shakes.

It can be included in a person's portion of soup or stew, but the meal has to be cool before adding.

You cannot cook with flaxseed oil or add it to extremely hot meals since high temperatures cause the ingredients to break down quickly making it less effective.
