Tips To Reduce
Joint Inflammation

Joint inflammation can occur for a variety of reasons. Acute inflammation is a healthy response of the body to deal with an infection or injury in the body. Inflammation results in higher blood flow, increased heat and greater fluids in the area that help deal with the tissue damage.

Joint Inflammation

In some situations, the body responds to inflammation in an unhealthy way. This occurs when inflammation becomes chronic. There are several reasons why this can happen. Usually it occurs when the systems that turn the inflammation response off don't function. This mistake by the response systems in the body may be directly related to low levels of Omega 3 fatty acids in your diet.

What you eat does have an impact on the body's ability to function. This is because your diet needs to include specific fatty acids that cannot be produced by the human body. These are known as the essential amino acids and include EPA and DHA, two Omega 3 fatty acids that are in found in fish oil and krill oil supplements.

Foods That Reduce Inflammation In The Joints

It is virtually impossible to eat enough Omega 3 fatty acids in a modern diet. This is because we simply don't eat enough fish, nuts, seeds and organic types of beef and eggs. In addition, we eat too many types of foods that are high in Omega 6 fatty acids. These Omega 6 fatty acids actually promote the enzymes that cause inflammation.

If the foods we eat are not in a ratio of about 2:1 for Omega 3 to Omega 6 there will be an imbalance in the body that promotes inflammation. The average diet can be up to 25:1 Omega 6 to Omega 3, completely opposite of what we need. Omega 6 fatty acids are found in cereal grains which make up a lot of the modern diet.

Eating cold water oily fish such as sardines, salmon, halibut, mackerel or anchovies at least twice a week is a good start. Adding Omega 3 eggs or free range eggs and switching to grass fed organic beef can also help boost levels.

Supplements To Reduce Joint Inflammation

Adding a high quality Omega 3 supplement to your daily diet is the best option to help reduce inflammation in the joints. The most highly recommended supplement is an Antarctic krill oil supplement. These small sized capsules are easy to swallow. They don't leave a bad taste in your mouth and they have a strong research backing as to their effectiveness. This is very different than many supplements that make claims with no actual tests that back up the claims.

People that have joint inflammation will notice an improvement in the pain, stiffness and swelling within 7 to 14 days of starting the supplement. If you haven't tried krill oil you really owe it to yourself to get started; we know your joints will thank you.
